Why Convert a Garage Studio into an ADU?

Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), in-law suites, and garage conversions are becoming more popular across Cape Cod. They add value, provide flexible living space, and maximize existing structures. (In fact, Massachusetts recently made it easier to permit in-law apartments and ADUs by right. )

At 72 Grove Street, the original space was a garage with a small, inefficient studio layout—no proper kitchen, only an electrical cooktop, and windows placed poorly. It underutilized its true potential. Our goal was to convert it into a comfortable, modern living unit while respecting Cape Cod’s style and aesthetic.

• Repartitioned the space to transform the single studio into two bedrooms, plus a functional kitchen with living/dining, storage, and circulation space.
This smart layout allowed us to deliver far more value in the same footprint.

Kitchen Design & Cabinet Installation on Cape Cod

For the kitchen, we used our signature white shaker-style cabinets paired with elegant, durable marble-look quartz countertops. These choices were not just aesthetic — they balance brightness, timeless appeal, and durability in a Cape Cod environment (moisture, coastal air, etc.).

Even though the unit is compact, we included full-size appliances like a dishwasher, refrigerator, and adequate storage. The cabinetry was custom designed and installed by our team, reflecting our local style and installation best practices.

Challenges & Learnings
